The Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington Awarded $9.3K IAC Grant

Bloomington, Ind. — The Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington (AAGB), a nonprofit organization bringing artists together and connecting to the greater Bloomington/Monroe County community, announces receiving $9,355 from the Indiana Arts Commission for operational expenditures.

“The projects and organizations selected to receive funding are strengthening our state,” said Anne Penny Valentine, Chair of the Indiana Arts Commission. The IAC awarded $3,431,351 to 414 nonprofits around the state.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful for the support,” said AAGB Board President Henry Leck. “This grant allows us to expand our arts programming in the community, and provide stronger funding for our operations.”

“It really is fantastic,” added AAGB Board Vice President Thomas Duffy. “Grants like this empower us to do bigger and better things. Improving our arts programs makes a more vibrant arts community.”

The AAGB was formed in August 2011 with a mission of strengthening and sustaining the arts by connecting artists, cultural organizations, and artistic endeavors with patrons of the community. This artist support includes:

• The Arts Alliance Center at Simon Mall, featuring works from 30+ local artists.

• A Flex Space in the same facility to support art shows, art classes and workshops, rehearsal space, and performances.

• An online artist directory where artists can advertise their work.

• An online events calendar where any art event may be advertised.

Arts Organization Support grants provide annual operating support for the ongoing artistic and administrative functions of eligible arts organizations. Arts Project Support grants provide funding to Indiana 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations and public entities for a specific arts project or activity. Between both programs, 75 of Indiana’s 92 counties receive funding.
