Visit Our Galleries in Bloomington Indiana
By Hand Gallery in downtown Fountain Square and Arts Alliance Center at College Mall are the two galleries operated by Pillar Arts in Bloomington Indiana. Both are free to visit, open 5+ days a week, and represent works from local Indiana artists of various disciplines.
With regular exhibits, receptions, performances, and gallery rotations there’s always a good reason to visit more than once. If you visit on the first Friday of the month, By Hand Gallery hosts a Gallery Walk Reception from 5 to 8 pm.

A Day In Bloom
From Indianapolis, Bloomington is 50 miles south on Highway 69/SR-37. Both our galleries are free to visit with By Hand Gallery downtown and Arts Alliance Center on Bloomington’s east side. Both neighborhoods provide easy wayfinding to and from the highway.
Perhaps when you arrive in Bloomington you stop by Brightside Cafe in Fountain Square for a coffee and treat before visiting the historic By Hand Gallery. Explore the downtown area and grab lunch at Uptown Cafe. In the afternoon drive to Bloomington’s east side for retail shopping in College Mall and a visit to the county’s largest contemporary commercial art gallery, the Arts Alliance Center.
Although the gallery stays open till 8pm, don’t stay too long or you’ll miss a visit to Morgenstern’s Books. Indiana’s largest independent book store or Jiffy Treat for local made ice cream before taking our local 45/46 bypass alongside Indiana University sports stadiums before connecting back to the highway and your drive home.
