| Wow, it’s been a busy month for us already here at Pillar Arts! It was another amazing Gallery Walk at Pillar Arts By Hand, meanwhile the Alliance Center hosted exciting events from arts workshops and musical performances to gallery receptions and bellydance classes. Truly, thank you to our members and partners who make these events possible.
The exhibition, Nature Made, by Sara Steffey McQueen will be on display in the Pillar Arts Alliance Center until Thursday, May 29. We’re also excited to welcome Grace Gonso to the Flex Space next month, beginning her solo show, Femina Natura. Be on the look out for more details coming soon! We look forward to seeing you soon at Pillar Arts Alliance Center or Pillar Arts By Hand. Nature Made by Sara Steffey McQueen – Flex SpaceThursday, May 1 – Thursday, May 29 This May, Pillar Arts is proud to present Nature Made—a solo exhibition by Sara Steffey McQueen, a talented local artist whose work is deeply rooted in nature, intuitive exploration, and years of creative practice. As a Bloomington resident for over 50 years, Sara draws inspiration from the beauty of the Midwest, spiritual traditions, and her own rich life experiences as an artist, teacher, grandmother, and environmental advocate. Her work spans watercolor, acrylic, handmade papers, and natural materials, blending realism with abstract and inviting viewers into a world where creativity and nature are intertwined. The exhibition will be on display from Thursday, May 1 through Thursday, May 29 at the Pillar Arts Alliance Center in College Mall. We can’t wait to see you in the gallery! |

Femina Natura by Grace Gonso – Flex SpaceSunday, June 1 – Friday, July 18 We’re excited to welcome Femina Natura, a solo art exhibit by Grace Gonso, to the Pillar Arts Alliance Center from June 1-July 18. Grace is a Buryat-Mongol artist living in Owen County, Indiana. She is originally from the Khentii province of Mongolia, and grew up surrounded by wild landscapes and nomadic life. She now finds inspiration in the rural beauty of southern Indiana. Her oil paintings reflect her love of nature, from tiny dew-covered spiderwebs to sweeping pastoral scenes, turning her surroundings into vivid, heartfelt pieces of work. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, June 7 at 5 PM at the Pillar Arts Alliance Center! Come meet Grace, explore the stories behind her artwork, and enjoy some light refreshments. This is a great chance to connect with local art and celebrate the beauty of nature through a unique lens. We hope to see you there! |

Pillar Arts Alliance Center Artist: Artistry Imagined |
| Alexis Pruitt is the artist behind Artistry Imagined, who brings a unique touch to the art of writing. She creates handcrafted fine writing instruments that are as beautiful as they are practical. Using carefully chosen woods and custom resin pours, Alexis designs each pen with style and comfort in mind. Her pieces often feature vibrant dyes and pigments that create one-of-a-kind patterns full of depth and color.
What sets her work apart is her love for giving new life to meaningful materials. Alexis enjoys incorporating recycled or sentimental items into her pens, turning them into keepsakes you can use every day. You can find her work locally at the Pillar Arts Alliance Center in College Mall and the Brown County Craft Gallery—or browse her collection online at www.artistry-imagined.com. |
